Since opening our doors at the end of 2004, our areas of
operations are quite varied and range from pure
seafreight broking to consolidation
agency representation, charter
vessel cargo agency, cargo superintendence,
import customs broking & export forwarding
and of course project type work, be it
for cargoes into SA or our particular area of
interest which is cargo into Africa,
with our main focus being Zambia, Zimbabwe
and Botswana.
However, Africa and in particular
Zambia has in the last 4 years been core to our
cross-border project activities simply because
that is where the money (largely Chinese) is being spent and we have established strong relationships with a number of well-established foreign project forwarders, on whose behalf we
arrange the move from liner out of Durban to door
at destination.
In South Africa, we were fortunate
enough to be appointed as local agents for Kalmar
Finland and Liebherr Container Cranes, Ireland
to handle all landside logistics and charter
vessel agency, where applicable, for
all cranes that have been supplied to Transnet
Port Terminals for the last 4 years.
This has covered the ports of
Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town and the new
port of Ngqura, comprising some 200 machines to
date.
Recently a number of projects in Botswana have started to come on stream and Paccon is enjoying support in this new market which has also led to us developing the Walvis Bay inland route for Western hemisphere clients.
